Pinedale is a small town, and what’s going on here is spread across Facebook posts, flyers, and word of mouth. Pinedaily puts it in one place: news, events, a picture of the day, lost & found.
It’s also my test of how far you can run a real site with agents and very little infrastructure.
How it works
- There’s no content database and no admin backend. Every listing and story is a file in a repo.
- Community submissions like events and lost & found come in through forms that send email.
- An agent reads that inbox once or twice a day and drafts the change. It pings me on GitHub for approval, and after I approve, it bundles the day’s approved changes into one or two pull requests.
- Twice a week another agent checks the county, the town and other local sources for news, drafts each story with the links it checked, and opens one pull request for me to approve.
- Nothing ships without my sign-off, but I only spend about a minute per item.
Status
It’s live and indexed, and the approval loop has been handling real submissions since late September. In October it became installable on a phone’s home screen, with push alerts for weather warnings, new events, lost & found, and news.
